Evocative Pictures is accepting CASTING SUBMISSIONS for a film scene from a feature in pre-production. Needed are three (3) male musicians around late 20s/early-mid 30s: Bass Guitarist, Rhythm Guitarist and Drummer who can play rock music and one (1) 40-50 year old male metal head Lead Guitarist who can play blazing fast (or can fake it exceptionally well) and wants to rock out in spandex... I've decided to buckle down and get an online store going. I plan to sell some clothing items, audiobooks, ebooks and artwork. I hope to have some progress soon.

Things with the Lamb movie have hit a snag as I've just read (off the news section on genesis-movement.org) that Peter Gabriel may be developing a Lamb movie of his own. Dang nabbit! *joy and pain*

The dawning of a new venture...

So with purchasing the new Mac Pro, several software titles and a new 24“ Widescreen HD monitor, I’ve decided to rededicate my efforts to working in the film and media industries. I am pushing myself to learn new software and brush up on my old audio/visual skills... This should be a very interesting time for me- the result of much personal introspection and channeling the frustration of my unfulfilling day job into a cohesive effort to ”make something of myself, yet again...“

The new venture is Evocative Pictures (www.evocativepictures.com), a boutique production and post production company based around a ”soup to nuts“ ideal and a newly reinvigorated Christian worldview.

And the Lamb Lies Down...

        So I am in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania today, visiting my Grandmother (who I refer to as my Gram) with my sister and brother-in-law; my parents have already been here from earlier in the week. Tomorrow I intend to visit with an old family friend and neighbor to my Gram, Shirley, who has suffered from a minor stroke. When it rains it pours... I am trying to keep my spirits up and my brain occupied as I have immersed myself in some Hogweed/Genesis work while I am here.

        As I write this entry, my computer is whirring away, churning and chugging along as it is urged by Autodesk’s Combustion 4 software to render out the first test movie of a “particle” based wool wall for the “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway” sequence. If all goes well, it will add significant impact to the project. For all you early Peter Gabriel era Genesis fans, this may be the first time you will see an actualized wool wall of death materializing out of the sky and descending upon Times Square with your very eyes... I am very excited to attempt this creation as a visual artist and as a fan myself.

        Incidentally, I have Dave Senita to thank for introducing me to the wonderful and intriguing work of Genesis many years ago. But special thanks go to Anne Kosinski for giving me renewed focus, familiarity and appreciation of their earlier work. I have owned the “A Trick of the Tail” album on CD for a few years prior (as I had purchased it as my interest in similar Progressive Rock bands grew - Yes and King Crimson being at the top of the list.) But, to be honest, I hadn’t given the Genesis album anything beyond a mere cursory listen, until Anne came along that is.

        I already have some goals I need to achieve in order to bring this visualization to fruition. The sky must darken- a gradually descending gradient overlaying the particle based wool. The establishing shot of Times Square would best benefit from being filmed in either 720i or preferably in 720p. Thank goodness Combustion 4 can conform the presently rendering effects to whichever frame-rate I need, regardless of whether its an interlaced or progressive spec.

        Well I need to get back on my head, so to speak... I’ll have to cut this entry short.

Introducing Hogweed...

Things being what they are in my currently topsy turvy personal life, I now have more time to devote to freelance work.

I am creating a multimedia presentation for the progressive rock tribute band, Hogweed. They cover early Genesis tunes and I am excited to be working on something creative. I am currently working on some Lamb Lies Down on Broadway imagery and a few paintings for Watcher of the Skies. They look pretty sweet if I do say so myself.

Well my crappy 1.6GHz Pentium 4 PC and my new(ish) 2GHz Core Duo MacBook are now linked together via a Gigabit router. Finally I am able to watch and listen to stuff between the two without glitches. Yay for gigabit-ness...
